Michigan State loss to UCLA in NCAA tournament is microcosm of Spartans' season

TAMPA, Fla. — Maybe it was supposed to end this way, in a microcosm of a promising season gone sour, for a Michigan State basketball team that often demonstrated more fight and grit internally than it was able to express externally.

Yet the mettle they demonstrated in rallying from a 23-point deficit with just more than eight minutes remaining, while it may be largely forgotten, was symbolic of a team which probably lost far more often than it should have.
