On Sunday, upsets were the name of the game as double-digit seeds were advancing left and right. The day started off with a bang as North Carolina and Washington went at it for 40 minutes, with North Carolina hanging on for the 88-86 win. Duke and Michigan kept it rolling in the next matchup with another close finish as the Blue Devils escaped with a 73-71 win. After an action-packed early session, Ohio State went the drama-free route, cruising to a 98-66 win over George Mason.
Texas and Arizona had what may have been the wildest finish of the day after a late five-second violation gave Arizona the ball and a chance to win with under 10 seconds to go. Derrick Williams capitalized, making a lay-in and drawing a foul to give Arizona a 70-69 win. Within minutes of each other, No. 11 seeds Marquette and VCU pulled off upsets, knocking off Syracuse and Purdue, respectively. Kansas made sure it wouldn't be upset while cruising to a 73-59 win over Illinois.
