No charges yet in bizarre triple abduction in Abbotsford - News1130

ABBOTSFORD (NEWS1130) - Abbotsford Police have questioned and released three people following a home invasion and abduction last week. Police say they don't have enough evidence for charges.Cst. Ian MacDonald says police have more work to do before charges will stick."I just want to emphasize that there is a large amount of circumstantial evidence. Some of that evidence requires forensic examination, which may lead us to return to those individuals as being responsible," explains MacDonald. On Friday morning, two 19 year olds were on their way home from a night at a movie theatre, when they were confronted by masked men carrying what appeared to be a handgun. One of the teens had his eyes taped shut, while the other was instructed to drive the car to his house, where the suspects then broke into the home, tied up his uncle and his 17-year-old brother. They took his 44-year-old mother into the car and tied her up, too. The three were dumped on Highway 1 near Clearbrook Road. Police say the family could have been targeted because of their Abbotsford jewellery store.
