Police probe Monk after bizarre corpse theft

Police said one of the three Cypriots arrested by Greek authorities for allegedly trying to smuggle the remains of a woman into Cyprus, is actually a monk at the Kykkos Monastery.
Κykkos Metropolitan Nikiforos has suspended him from his duties for three months, stripping him of his benefits, since the monk had left without permission.
The 43 year- old monk, together with a 50-year-old man and a 60-year-old woman, were arrested on Sunday night at Athens Airport after the remains of a woman were found in their hand luggage.
The remains belong to a woman from Greece, who died four years ago.
It seems that the trio dug up her remains following a memorial service marking her death.
