Eight people reportedly killed in crash-landing at Irish airport

EIGHT people were have been killed in a small passenger plane from Belfast crash-landed at Ireland's Cork Airport amid heavy fog, Irish broadcaster RTE reported.

The aircraft, which was carrying 10 passengers and two crew members, crashed during its third attempt at landing at the airport, shortly before 10:00am local time.

It was believed to have caught fire and overturned, with debris scattered across the runway.

A Cork County Council spokesman said three people were dead and two others were trapped in the wreckage.

A statement from the Irish Aviation Authority said "low visibility issues" hampered the plane's attempts to land.
