Ekpe Udoh's role grows with Andris Biedrins out

Warriors center Andris Biedrins will not make the team's four-game road trip because of a high left ankle sprain, fast-forwarding the evaluation process of No. 6 overall pick Ekpe Udoh.

Coach Keith Smart conceded before Wednesday night's loss against Dallas that it was probably time to "see and mold some pieces" for the future. About three hours later - midway through the third quarter - Biedrins rolled his ankle and opened the door for Smart to play Udoh as many minutes as the rookie can handle.

Biedrins, amid his most productive game in more than a month, appeared to trip over a crowd of feet in the lane, injuring the same ankle that cost him nine games in December and January.
